Stogovo is located in the western part of the Republic of Macedonia. The highest peaks are Golem Rid at 2278 meters above sea level and Babin Srt at 2242 meters above sea level. Here the nature is almost untouched due to the fact that there is no population nearby, and it is not often visited by mountaineers.
Mount Stogovo is located between the valley of Crn Drim in the west and Sateska in the east. To the north and east, Stogovo is connected to the Bistra mountain, and to the south through the Babin Srt peak (2242 meters above sea level) it is connected to the Karaorman mountain. In the north it is bounded by Mala Reka, Garska Reka, Jamska Reka and the Jama pass, and in the south through Karaorman it reaches the Ohrid-Struka valley.[1] To the west and southwest, the slopes of Stogovo enclose the Debar field and the valley of the Black Drim river, i.e. the areas of Drimkol and Malesia, while to the east and southeast it encloses the Kichevska valley and the northern part of the Debarca area.
The mountain is a young chain with sharp ridges and belongs to the Shar mountain system. The ridge is clearly defined along its entire length, in some places it is rounded, and in some places it is sharp and poorly divided. The mountain side facing north descends slightly from the beginning, and then falls steeply towards the valley of Mala Reka and its tributaries Garska and Jamska Reka. The highest peaks are Golem Rid – 2273 meters above sea level,

Babin Srt – 2241 m.a.s.l., Stogovo – 2218 m.a.s.l., Kanesh – 2216 m.a.s.l. and there are 7 other peaks higher than 2000 meters. Gjorche Petrov gives the following description of the direction of the Stgovo stretch: not far from Debar via Radika, the Stogovo mountain begins, which peaks to the south-east at an obtuse angle with Korab and shows in Kichevsko 3 hours south-west of the city of Kichevo, with the peak of Stogovo. Here it turns south and ends in Ohrid under the name Karaorman.
Stogovo is a young chain mountain that was formed during the Alpine orogeny. In the geological composition, phylloids, green slates, carbonates, claystones, hornblende, etc. are found. During the Pleistocene, the Stogovo mountain was affected by glaciation and today it has glacial (glacial) relief such as cirques, waves and moraines. In the cirques there are three glacial lakes: Gorno and Dolno Ezero and Lake Marusha.
The representation of the flora is “by floors”, i.e. deciduous beech and oak forests are represented at the foot, towards the top they are replaced by pine evergreen forests, and the rocky peaks themselves are surrounded by tall grass pastures known under the name “alpine pastures”. There are numerous pastures and pastures on the flattened ridge of the mountain called Golema and Mala Megdanica, which is surrounded by the peaks of Golem Rid to the west, Babin Srt to the south and Stogovo to the east. In 2012, on the eastern slopes of Stogovo in Kichevsko, lynx individuals were found on two occasions, within the framework of the lynx research in Macedonia.
