Plackovica rises between the Strumica-Radovica valley in the south and the Kocana valley in the north. It is divided into two parts, eastern and western. The western part is lower, and the highest peak on it is Turtel at 1689 meters above sea level. On the eastern part is the highest peak of this mountain, Lisec at 1754 meters above sea level. Lisec is popular among local hikers. It is not unusual for Lisec to have snow even in June. Below the peak are the mountain lodges Vrteshka and Jumaya
Plachkovica mountain can be reached from the towns of Radovish, Shtip and Vinica. The marking for the hiking transversal “Mountains of Macedonia” PM starts from the city of Radovish, from the bridge of Stara Reka and passes through the settlement of Technelk, from where you go along an asphalt road, through small shortcuts, you pass in close proximity to the village of Shturovo. In half an hour you can reach the cattle farm “Česme Male”. Through the shortcuts that continue, you get to an asphalt road in the area of Drum, where most of it is on an asphalt road. In the immediate vicinity of the village of Kozbunar, the shortcuts between some villas start again, 15 minutes before the forest house, you get on the asphalt road again. From the mountain lodge, the trail continues to the “Eden Dere” creek, which is crossed several times, so that after an hour’s walk, the trail reaches the very foot of Lisec peak, crossing the Lomija river. From here, the path climbs up the ridge of Vlaska Ridina, the saddle Vlaski Grob, Golema Livada to the peak of Lisec. It takes 2 hours from the mountain lodge to Lisec peak. Lisecs — the highest peak of Mount Plackovica with a height of 1,754 m. The peak rises in the eastern part of the mountain, where there are also the peaks Chupino Brdo (1,725 m), Bel Kamen (1,707 m) and Kara Tepe (1,625 m). Climbing the summit is possible from the north, south and east sides, with the north side being the easiest. The peak is also known as one of the peaks in Macedonia with the greatest view.
Climbing routesThere are three ways to climb the peak: from the north, south and east side. The easiest way to climb to the top is from the north side, which starts from the village of Zrnovci or from the village of Gradec, and the distance is about 10 km.
[1] The path from Zrnovci in the lower part mainly moves along the course of the Zrnecka Reka, while from the village of Gradec in the lower part it mainly moves along the course of the Gradecka Reka. The paths from the two villages then merge into one, which continues to Lisečko Bilo at an altitude of about 1,500 m, from where it continues to the very top.
On the southern side, the ascent starts from Radovish and continues through the cattle farm Cheshma Male, from where you get to an asphalt road through short paths. The road continues to the village of Kozbunar, from where the shortened paths start again. In the immediate vicinity of the forest house, there is an asphalt road again, and from the forest house, a 2 km long dirt road continues to the mountain lodge “Jumaia”, which is located at an altitude of 1,420 m. From Radovish to the mountain lodge you can also reach it by vehicle along a 22 km long asphalt road. The direction of movement from the mountain continues along a marked path down to the river Eden Dere, which is crossed several times to reach the foot of the peak. [2]
On the eastern side, the ascent starts from the mountain lodge “Vrteshka” at an altitude of 1,107 m. The mountain lodge is about 35 km from Shtip and is accessible by vehicle. The initial ascent from the mountain lodge is along a goat path in the direction of the villas of Shtipska Plackovica at an altitude of 1,280 m above sea level. From there, the ascent continues along an asphalt road for about 800 m to an intersection where the path turns to the right. Continue along a macadam path, where you will come across a fountain, and after 1.5 km you will reach the village of Jamia at an altitude of about 1,500 m. At the village there is an intersection where the path turns to the right. After about 250 m there is a new intersection and you continue along the path that leads to the southeast and turns to the east. After a distance of about 2 km along the path, you come across a marked path that leads to the top. The path first leads down to the Ulumia canyon, and after about 1.5 km you reach the course of the Lomia river at an altitude of about 1,000 m. After crossing the river, continue along a narrow goat path on a steep hill and after about 1 km you will pass the Krivo Brdo peak (1,282 m). The path continues further and after about 1 km you reach the village of Pobien Kamen at an altitude of 1,407 m above sea level, from where you can see the peak of Lisec.
